When working with groups of couples, I use the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP).
PREP is a skills-based education program designed to prevent marital distress and improve communication between couples. This program is appropriate for couples at any stage of their relationship. Workshops can be for specific groups such as premarital couples, couples bringing a child into the relationship, couples who have just sent their last child away to college, or for a mixed group of couples in any stage of their relationship.
This program is NOT group therapy. Couples participating in this program do not have to share their deepest concerns and relationship problems with other people. Couples share only what that feel comfortable sharing. It is an educational based approach that may use a combination of lectures, reading, worksheets, dvd clips, and practice exercises to build relationship skills.
I will work with community organizations such as religious congregations, civic organizations, or other groups to design a program to suit the needs of your members. For example, I could come give a one-time 90 minute presentation, I could offer a day long workshop, or we could have an in-depth program that meets once a week for six weeks.
